Surf Ski Supremacy FAQs

Who is the Surf Ski Supremacy eBook written for?

This Surf Ski Supremacy eBook is intended for beginner surf skiers, and also intermediate surf skiers who do not have access to technical information about the sport and would like to learn more about the techniques which will make them better paddlers.

If I buy the eBook, does that mean I will not need a coach?

No, the eBook is not meant to be a replacement for competant coaching. The eBook endeavors to give you the information you need to paddle correctly and well, what it cannot do though, is help isolate your technical flaws and offer advice on how you can overcome them. Quite often, a paddler will not even realize his technique can improve, in his mind he is doing it correctly. It takes competant coaching to see technical issues and offer advice on how to correct them.

What was the inspiration behind the eBook?

When I was learning how to paddle a surf ski, I faced many challenges that I just could not find information about. I found all kinds of technical information, but nothing about the issues and challenges I was facing at the time and how one was supposed to overcome those challenges. Experienced paddlers tend to forget their “baby steps”. The more experienced they are, the more they have forgotten. Recognizing the lack of information available to me at the time, I recorded all the issues and challenges I faced when learning about this sport and more importantly, the solutions to those challenges. Some of the solutions came with instruction, other solutions came with experimenting and experience. I wrote them all down in a notepad though, so I wouldn’t forget them. It is from these experiences that I wrote this eBook. It is more of an “Issues and Solutions” discourse than a technical resource. (Although there is lots of technical information here too)

What is the best way to use the book?

I find that when focusing on technical things, it is easy to get overwhelmed and difficult to do many things well. So, along with a competant coach, I suggest that for each session you find only one thing to concentrate on. It could be leg drive, torso rotation, stroke length, it does not matter. For that session though, you concentrate on improving that one thing only. If you are doing drills, catching waves or going for a long paddle, it does not matter, only concentrate on one thing per paddling session. You can concentrate on something different next trainng session if you want but again, only do one thing at a time.  Oh and also, don’t forget every now and then to forget about it all and just go out and have some fun. Paddle for the sake of paddling.
